Ali’s Art

Backyard Wonders

I place every leaf by hand, creating a pattern and color palette. Then the fabric, with the plant material inside, is tightly rolled around a pipe or stick. The “bundles” are tossed into a steamer. The heat releases the dye out of the plant, coloring the fabric next to the leaf. The colors are revealed as the plan material is lifted off the unwrapped fabric. Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind. I can’t predict exactly what the results will be and this is why I do it. It is always a surprise!

Kathryn’s Quilling

Kathryn Cannon is a local artist living along the McKenzie River in Walterville, Oregon.

She practices the art of quilling~~ the craft of curling, bending and arranging small strips of paper to create beautiful and detailed artwork. It is believed to have originated over 500 years ago when a feather quill was used to roll the paper.

Kathryn began making personalized cards for family, friends and colleagues who encouraged her to start a business. She is self-taught and her work is hand-crafted. Kathryn gets her inspiration from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Her personality is reflected in the simplicity of her quilled wildflowers and sweet miniatures.

Sass with Glass

My name is Brenda Cline. I’m a local. McKenzie River stained glass artist with 35 years experience using the copper foil or Tiffany style technique. The Tiffany style technique has been around for more than 1000 years mostly used in church windows. Glass is cut to fit the pattern, then copper foil is wrapped around each piece of glass. Once each piece of glass is wrapped in copper foil and fit to the pattern, it is soldered cleaned, then polished. I will have night lights and suncatchers available at the Lavender Bloom
